Finally a new post right after Full Troop Ex (didn't think my hand could see me to the end...). Honestly wasn't as physical as initially thought due to loads of rest time, but staying outfield overtime not doing anything is pure mental torture.

Seating on the A-veh hull, basking under the 12pm sun, unable to fall asleep due to some big shots with first-class persistance constantly annoying us, I can't help but space out back to those days in school, wishing to turn back time, return to those kind old days where we used to talk cock at our fav hang-out, mug hard when exam's near, that mental load was nothing like i experienced thru this exercise. "Come on Joe! All this has passed and gone, it'over let it go and keep walking", me convincing my mind to face up to this harsh fact that we could never walk as closely as we did before, nor understand each other as well as we once did. The friendship now seems bland, we once fought so hard alongside each other for our dreams and future. Sometimes I can't help but feel that this is all in the past, with new people sharing our ambitions entering our lives,and traces of competition setting in. i guess this reduces us to acquaintances. Took me so long to see this, all part of growing up, too much wishful thinking, now all's left are the memories we shared and cherished....sigh

I looked back in my life, thought perhaps I was too stuck up, always putting a strong front and trying to act optimistic and calm, guess i'm quite bad at it. I haven't felt so tired out in a while, manipulated by politics around me and facing people who seemingly have no stand nor idea as which side they're on, sometimes i wonder, why chiong? I ever told myself to do my best in all I set out to do, but i feel so tired of all this, can I go on like this? Guess all I can take comfort that all this ends in a few months and I can look back look to my NS life, proud that i did not miss out on something in life, as though there's an unfillable hole in my heart.

On hindsight, politics is one aspect that one can never avoid when out in society. Time to grow up and muster the strength to face up to it.

This seems like the only place to voice and share my thoughts, doubt if anyone would read this but who knows, 10 years down, i may read this again and laugh at myself, or even to pick myself up again since I've ever been so down and out.

I suddenly realised, I haven’t been writing here for a while, this blog’s dying…..

Ok, some updates….went to London during Chinese New Year, and guess what? I lost my phone on the first day, along with all my contacts…arrrgh! Attended 2 interviews for medical school, and thankfully I got an offer from St Andrew’s University or else, this trip is wasted. Of course, my itinerary included some R&R, check this out!

After I got back, 1 week and whoosh to New Delhi for 2-week exercise. Journey was crazy: 2 hrs coach, 6 hrs train and another 2hrs coach,,,chor. Food taste like crap, curry, curry and curry, erm…..*_* Of course R&R again. The Taj Mahal

Don't ask me about training, it's still bearable thanks to 3 years in Boys' Brigade, the rest is classified as "Confidential", and I'm not supposed to breathe a word under ther Official Secrets Act....kenasai
found the long lost part of me, the garang and kee-siao version of Joseph Wan and of course a new hair-style to go along with....LAUGH!!! hahaha

Final 'A' Level review

H1 General Paper

Paper 1 (50%): Under circumstances of no better option, I ended up writing question on science and tech vs religion, it was the only thing close to what I’ve studied and I made a point to refer to question. So argument I believe has a balance and the language may be my Archille’s heel when compared nationwide, which has an effect on my grades

Paper 2 (50%): Passage was on history where 1 author values it and the other doubts its usefulness. Questions were ok, considering I did enough practice on other school papers, RJC ACJC HCJC etc. AQ was kinda strange, considering the question asked on applicability on local society 1st before personal views on both writers view….but answer was based accordingly to question order, only I did not have time to write in my concluding paragraph, so that’s where I lose out.

Expected grade range: B to D (prelim D)

H1 Economics

Case Study (70%): 2 CSQ macro Econ question: 1) Inflation, 2) International Trade and Globalisation studied these beforehand in model essays mode from other school’s suggested answers, so points more points to write for lesser marks, and 1^st time in JC life to have completed a full paper in 3 hours.

Essay (30%): I spotted topics this time, placing my bets on microecons topics and we had market failure, the same one as in prelims and I scored big time for it. So the outlook is good.

Expected grade range: C, D (prelim E)

H2 Mathematics

Paper 1 (50%): It was a tough paper to begin with, even pure maths could be tough, brain drain for 3 hours. I did not do 9 marks of questions as I gave up recurrence totally, lovely…Jayakanth found it hard also and I had to reassure him.

Paper 2 (50%): Not too bad, good vengeance for paper 1. Only some probabilities question and approximation were slightly ambiguous, assuming worst case scenario where I got them all wrong, there should at least be some working marks. 13 marks of questions undone, but damages reduced by 1/2 thanks to each paper 50%.

Expected grade range: A, B (prelim A)

H2 Chemistry: the least worrying of all…

Paper 1 (20%): couldn’t finish for the 1st time in jc life, 2 questions undone shaded “A”s at last minute. Was in a total gloom on way home, but after calculations, I realised I only had 7 “ambiguous” out of 40, meaning those with at least 50% chance of getting it wrong, including those I did not have time to solve, so now I can eat in peace because I was studying for Bio Paper 3 and did not even practise a single paper.

Paper 2 (25%): 4 questions surmounting to 60 marks, last question was a killer, but I could at least secure 10 out of 21 marks, the rest are ambiguous and error could be carried forward. So worst case scenario, I lose all “ambiguous” marks + careless mistakes in front, marks range from 40 to 49 out of 60.

Paper 3 (35%): mutilated this paper as vengeance for bio, finished all 5 questions when I have to only attempt 4, and had 15 minutes to check all 5 and decide which one not to hand in....what an issue i have...haha

Expected grade range: A (95%), and B (5%) thanks to SPA

H2 Biology: the one that I feel that I’ve wasted money and effort

Paper 1 (20%): finished in 30 minutes out of 75, redid again, changed a few answers, on the whole easy

Paper 2 (35%): KILLER PAPER!!! Ridiculous questions + contextual ones, no time to read nor analyse damn it! Free-response question: door 1) respiration and photosynthesis, door 2) Darwinism and Phylogeny. Yup my choice is obvious….screw this paper, 6 marks of unattempted questions out of 100

Paper 3 (25%): Structured is a breeze if you have had enough practice. FRQ: human genome project a) aims (6m), b) benefits (8m), c) ethical issues (6m). Assuming 1m per point, I do not have enough points. I seriously believe it is 2m per point+substantiation, judging from their loose allocation of marks, 5m for just asking how to clone in a gene in a plasmid vector when normal sch papers only awards at most 3. Also typical school FRQs also lump everything together (aims, benefits and implications) for 10m, and the points in my notes come in ratio of 3:4:3 for each segment. Thus, think of empirical formula from chem, there is a consistent ratio of 2:1. Thus conclusion is 2 marks per point+substantiation

Expected grade range: A to C (prelim D) hopefully higher with spa

Gundam 00 s2 ep7

SPOILERS ALERT!
turn away if you have yet to watch ep7

first things first: 00 gundam was owned by bushido's ahead, cos twin drive can't take trans-am and kinda overloaded and got busted...now understand why bushido has so much authority, he's an ACE!! he is actually able to go on par with 00 in trans-am mode and catch up with its speed!! FULL-TIME HENTAI!!!

Worse thing is...he doesn't destroy 00 after its drives were busted simply cos he sees 'no value in it', no wonder his unit is samurai-customed and note how he wields his beam saber, juz like samurais and their principles and spirit. Then, he juz leaves...wow,that sentimentalism's gonna cost him

Between Saji and Louise, Saji still didn't pull the trigger till the end and Ian took over...firing GN missiles. Louise really suck big time, her unit was damaged the missiles and lost her right arm and her GN lance. On hindsight, if she was killed, that's the end between them, but she was protected by Andrei from the last missile that almost did her in....something may happen soon....

Alright the main scoop this week, Allelujah and Soma, Allelujah grabbed her unit before Arios busted, and both went MIA on an island, like Gundam Seed. Guess what, Allelujah tried to get her out of her Ahead, but se got aggressive and pounced on him literally like a wild cat!! But just as she wanted to kill him, she got interfered by flashbacks and regain her other personality as Marie Perfacy...what a change!...Aggressiveness to the gentle her, calling her lost friend in a never-before heard tone and fainted. Take a comparison...

Soma peelies VS Marie Perfacy

Soon after, sumeragi awakes and order a retreat and search party for allelujah, while he is reminiscing their past in the HRL lab until Colonel Smirnov turns up
wow 1st time seeing the GN-X in federation colour!!! COOL!!

So Smirnov shows up, trying to rescue peelies from allelujah, whom he called a terrorist only to realised that she has returned to her original personality as marie. After a struggle to retain marie by his side, Sergei eventually decides to let them go and leaves the two on the island with soma saluting to his leaving unit.# quite touching as it shows his position in her heart as a father noting that the soma character had the desire to be his daughter# that's where the title comes in.

The two are rescued by Lockon, and became the first to see them in a kiss, while Tieria gets a shock from his clone, the Innovator Regene Regetta, who finds him on the island, leaving it as a prelude to the next episode....seems like Ribbons has his own unit, green as his hair

H1 Econs yesterday was surprisingly easy, smells kinda fishy
for the first time i completed a full paper in 3 hours, not bad.....i didnt manage to in prelims, but i still clinched my first econs pass in jc lilfe
like government always say,"prospects are good, we are in a good position to secure ...."
....at least a "C"
4 more days to go till bio paper 3 and the self-declaed liberty....

A Level Day 6

H2 Chem Paper 2
4 questions, last one was challenging and ambiguous, but answers can more or less be deduced from some other parts of question.
On the whole, i would say manageable, but that qn 4 may drag marks down a bit. Have to rely on paper 3 and 1, pehaps spa to secure my chem A.
Well...i would say it's more or less there, considering my prelim A, slim chance i'll miss it unless moderated down....nvrmind, econs tmr, it'll be fun *_*
Cheers to those taking 'A's, can start counting down, next mon will be my unofficial completion of 'A's....i mean, come on let's face it, why bother studying for bio mcq, when you only need 30 min out of 75min to complete the paper, and chances are, you'll hit at least 35 out of 40?

Sumary
After the Meisters land on the damaged Kataron base in the Middle East, they were greeted with accusations and distrust. At this time, Tieria brings Saji back to the Ptolemaios 2 after he spotted him all shaken up in guilt. A-LAWs launches another operation to sortie against the Ptolemaios 2. The Meisters launch to intercept while Sumeragi is out of action after a flashback of a failed operation she led that resulted in her love interest, Emilio's, death. Saji follows Ian to a Ptolemaios 2 turret, while initially hesitating to do so before he fires it at a GN-X III piloted by Louise Harlevy. Allelujah encounters difficulties while facing Soma and Setsuna with Mr. Bushido. As a result, Setsuna goes into trans-am mode with his 00 Gundam.

my views:
-Kataron busted, probably gone for good, they and and their antiques.....good riddance of bad rubbish
-Azadistan wiped out thanks to Ali Al Sarshes with that modified throne unit...pro

This episode is truly a reconciliation of old foes, setsuna vs graham, marie/peelis vs allelujah (that sentimentlism is gonna cost him for sure...) and two old flames louise vs saji (another sentimentalist like allelujah.....conflicting values in battle), but if he pulls the trigger, that might be the end.
Strange thing is, Setsuna didn't enter combat with him in 00 gundam, instead he was engagedd by Bushido in his Ahead, and kinda overwhelmed...underperforming

-seem like Sumeragi has an old flame that died ages ago when she was in AEU due to her misjudgement and end up battling allies, in this case Manequin and she got emo after seeing kataron's debris and fainted
Manaquin managed to figure who the Celestial Being tactician was...smart guess calling her Kujoh
-It seems that Andrei Smirnov seems to have taste for young ladies... like his pops
-Peelis re-affirmed herself as a super soldier and gonna take out Allelujah next episode..woohoo
-on a final note, the narrator for revealing next episode sounded kinda weird when he said "next episode: i want to be your daughter"
yea i know it's the next ep title and he's referring to soma....but he's a guy you know, they shud juz get the voice actor for soma to narrate it...like how they do it in code geass

Math paper 2...easy peasy
still got an econs to look forward to,
but for now, it's gaming time!

Well, can't be helped...gotta enjoy while i still can before serving NS (12th dec), which came at such short notice on 22nd oct ( 1 week b4 'A's), and guess wat? i have less than 20 days to myself after 'A's, which includes my holiday trip brought forward (the air travel company's gonna love this), therefore my math concludes that i' only left with 4 in singapore...sigh
Cos why? i failed napfa (the hard fact), and their advice? "Pls retake and submit results b4 19th Nov", what are the odds of that? Given that A levels end on 20th for me, that i failed previously during actual test+no training for past few months......practise probabilities for math paper 2
conclusion: face e consequence of slacking and start countdown liao...like before the 'A's

Nevemind...at least i'll get used to it faster than others, like James :p (tokong leh...like nobody's business)
my condolences to you....3rd day of CNY2009, wat can i say? Don't overeat during CNY! Haha

i juz mutilated chem paper 3, supposed to do 4 out of 5 questions, and i did all 5 for wat?
To avenge yesterday's bio paper 2....when everyone else barely completed 4 and i still had 15 min to check and ponder on which one not to submit
found it easy anyway, jinquan and co thinks that i have an issue with chem, it's true i guess
